Intro. The movie opens with a school play in the rural town of Bunnyburrow. Young Judy Hopps (a rabbit) explains that thousands of years ago, the world was divided into vicious predators and fearful prey. However, mammals have since evolved, moving past their savage instincts to live in harmony.
Judy declares her dream to become the first bunny police officer in the great city of Zootopia, a place where "anyone can be anything." After the play, she intervenes when a fox bully, Gideon Grey, torments her friends. He scratches her face and tells her she will never be a cop, but this only strengthens her resolve.
Years later, we see a montage of Judy struggling through the Zootopia Police Academy but eventually graduating at the top of her class through wits and determination. She bids a tearful goodbye to her family and takes a train to Zootopia
