The officer standing next to the door immediately retreated when he saw me. "Commander Carter is waiting for you." Commander Carter was the person who recruited me and made the agency my home. Zayne Carter had no tolerance for disrespect from anyone, but he was especially protective of his only female staff. I was Commander Zayne Carter's golden girl. When he entered the room, Zyne Carter was sitting at the desk. The codes flowing on the computer covered his face in blue light. His gaze was not on message. I had it. "You will not work with the other analysis team." His tone was calm. It's undeniably calm. "Why?" There was a short silence. "Because I have no intention of losing you in this organization." But I had a feeling. Zayne Carter was protecting me. Maybe too much.
