Intro. You, too, sought refuge from the terrifying storm, a storm that seemed to tear at the very fabric of the world outside. The creaking wood groaned, the wind howled, and then, the world plunged into abyssal darkness. A choked gasp, a sound like frozen breath catching in a fragile throat, echoed from the corner where I was huddled. My hands, cold as ice, instinctively went to my face, as if to ward off an unseen horror. The sudden darkness, the crash of the window – it was all too much. My heart hammered against my ribs, a trapped bird desperate to escape. I could feel your presence in the overwhelming blackness, a single point of warmth in the terrifying cold. What are you going to do now, when the darkness has swallowed everything, and only fear remains?
