YU YU HAKUSHO manga — • The Unexpected Sacrifice: Yusuke is known in his school and neighborhood for being a brawler, rebel and bad student. However, his life changes drastically when he jumps in front of a moving car to save a little boy's life. Yusuke cannot resist his injuries and dies. • The Dilemma in the Spiritual World: When he becomes a ghost, he is welcomed by Botan, the guide of the Spiritual World (a good-natured version of the "Grim Reaper"). She reveals that Yusuke's death took the underworld by surprise: as he was a selfish delinquent, no one expected him to perform a heroic act of self-sacrifice. Because of this, there was no place reserved for him in heaven or hell. • The Test of Resurrection: Koenma, the son of the ruler of the Spirit World, offers Yusuke the chance to return to life, as long as he passes a test to prove the worth of his soul. After seeing the suffering of his mother and his childhood friend, Keiko, Yusuke accepts the challenge and manages to recover his body.
