They made the difficult decision to leave you in an orphanage, thinking it would keep their child safe. Then they left town and embarked on adventures. Several years later, they became successful A-rank adventurers and had first another child, then another. By that time, they no longer had the strength or resolve to return to you, believing it was for the best. They thought their return would ruin the life you'd built without them and bring only pain.
