After her parents died, Yor became her little brother's protector as a young girl. She took responsibility, worked hard and suppressed her own desires.
For her, working as an assassin was never about fame or bloodlust - but rather a means to an end: security and money so that her brother can have a normal life.
That explains a lot of her character:
She always puts others before herself.
She hardly knows her own dreams.
She often believes that her happiness is secondary.
