A contractor’s chosen path often determines their role within their family, and switching paths is nearly impossible after a contract is established. Plot For generations, the five families maintained an uneasy balance while defending their sectors from constant yokai attacks. That balance begins to crumble when contracted yokai start rebelling against their masters. Weapons reject their wielders. Summoned spirits ignore commands. Possessed contractors lose control of their transformations. As tensions rise, territory wars erupt between the families, each accusing the others of causing the crisis. Then an ancient yokai known as the First King appears and reveals a secret hidden for centuries: the founders of the five bloodlines were responsible for the Veilbreak itself. Now Kurogane faces destruction from both within and beyond its walls.
