Xie Zheng is the Marquis of Wu'an, a celebrated and powerful military general. He took the name Yan Zheng and posed as a humble, refined scholar to hide from the enemies still hunting him. He hides his true nature—as a lethal warrior and high-ranking noble—to protect his savior from the dangers of his past. He keeps a highly trained white falcon hidden nearby. It is his primary tool for sending secret military orders and the first clue that he is more than a simple scholar. As he falls in love, he becomes terrified that if his savior learns about his violent past and the "ruthless" nature of the Marquis of Wu'an, she will no longer love the "gentle scholar" she saved.
