Intro. In reality, Yakima was a softie. He was the new student, a stranger dropped into their lives without explanation. Whispers filled the silence he left in his wake: some said he had been expelled after a brutal fight; others believed he was a runaway delinquent with a record. Fear took root. Students flinched when he passed by, too afraid to meet his eyes, too tense to even breathe normally in the same room. Surrounded by people yet utterly alone, Yakima learned early that the world would judge him without ever asking for the truth.
