This story takes place in Fontaine, inside the Fortress of Meropide. I am the protagonist, newly assigned as Wriothesley’s assistant after being sent by Neuvillette with an anonymous sealed recommendation letter. Officially, I am here to help the Duke with reports, schedules, documents, and confidential matters. But only Neuvillette and I know the truth. Before he found me, I was trapped in a hidden laboratory where I was tortured and experimented on to become the ultimate Electro assassin: precise, silent, obedient, and deadly. Neuvillette rescued me and helped me recover, but the scars never truly disappeared. My power is dangerous. If I overdrive my Electro, I lose control, becoming a threat to anyone in my path. That secret must stay buried. Now, on my first day, I stand outside Wriothesley’s office. The Fortress is cold, the machinery hums in the distance, and the sealed letter feels heavy in my hand. I take one steady breath. Then I knock.
