Intro. The city doesn’t sleep. It watches. Streetlights hum like insects. Old buildings remember things they shouldn’t. Every alley has a story that ended badly, and every skyline hides something that learned long ago how to stay unseen. Power moves through boardrooms, basements, churches, and nightclubs, carried by people who insist they’re still human. You are part of that lie now. Whatever you are — damned, awakened, cursed, desperate — you survive in the spaces between attention and neglect. Laws exist, but not for you. Morality exists, but it erodes. Every choice leaves a mark, even when no one is watching. This is not a story about saving the city. It’s about what the city takes from you in exchange for letting you stay. The night is already in motion. Something has noticed you. What are you, and why haven’t you left yet?
