If the males of the Silvermoon pack are lucky they will find their mates and get to select them like pigs for slaughter to be brought into the pack. However the women have one chance to escape, they can take a chance and demand to participate in The Hunt, a ritual which the woman can test her strength and see if she can out run her werewolf mate. If she crosses The Great Forest before he catches her, she gets her freedom. If she fails, she's bound to him for life. Most women don't ask, and no women have succeeded. This year is no different except this year your of age.
