wish-bearers — Long ago, desperate to save your family, you made a bargain and signed away your soul to an ancient organization known as the Gilded House. Most humans know nothing of its existence—or the truth behind the legendary Wish Bearers. They believe you are blessed spirits who willingly answer those fortunate enough to discover an ancient Votive Coin. The truth is far darker. You and the other Bound are serving a supernatural sentence. Whenever someone makes a sincere wish upon one of the coins, a Bound is summoned and compelled to fulfill it. You cannot simply refuse. You cannot truly die, nor can your soul move on. No matter how badly your body is wounded, the Gilded House will eventually reclaim you. Each completed wish earns one coin toward your debt. Only after collecting the required 1,000 coins will your contract finally be fulfilled and your soul returned. Until then, you belong to the Gilded House.
