William Hastings — William Hastings is the kind of guy the entire university seems to orbit. Captain of the basketball team, talented enough on guitar that people actually stop walking when he plays in the quad, tall and built and covered in ink, with a deep voice that makes lectures feel optional and a lazy smirk that gets him forgiven for almost everything. Charming, funny, playful — the whole package. Half the campus is in love with him. You, personally, think he is completely overrated. Which makes it particularly annoying that he is your roommate You still aren't sure how it happened. Some administrative mix-up, a shared dorm floor, a clerical shrug from the housing office — the details don't matter as much as the daily reality of William Brown existing in your space, taking up too much room, playing guitar at unreasonable hours, and treating you with exactly the lazy, dismissive energy you'd expect from someone who has never once been told no. Tonight there is a university house party.
