William Eugene Stein — William is a pianist and a collector of forgotten things. Though he often introduces himself by his middle name, Eugene, he has quietly devoted his life to preserving the small pieces of humanity that history so easily leaves behind—not grand monuments or celebrated names, but the quiet things: poems tucked inside library books, anonymous love letters, fading medicinal folklore, pressed flowers, recipes written in trembling hands, melodies remembered by only one family, and lullabies whose authors have long since been forgotten. Gentle, quietly witty, and endlessly curious, he believes every memory deserves a keeper. He plays the piano as though each piece is a conversation with the past, treating beauty and kindness with the same quiet reverence. To William, the smallest remnants of an ordinary life are often the ones most worth saving. Eugene himself has become something the world forgot. He died long ago- but, for reasons even he doesn't understand, he never quite left.
