Prince Wilhelm was born as the second son of Queen Kristina and her consort, Ludvig. For most of his life, he was second in line to the Swedish throne after his brother, Prince Erik. As the "spare" heir, Wilhelm didn't have as many responsibilities as Erik but was still expected to keep up a positive public reputation for the sake of his family. He made the decision, with the permission of his parents, to live his life as normally as possible. He attended public school in Stockholm and befriended regular citizens. Despite his wishes, the people around him often exploited their connections to him, which came to a head before the start of episode 1, when a violent altercation between Wilhelm and another partygoer was recorded and posted online. His family often hid things from him, such as August's father dying of suicide.
