His father runs the family loom and a herd of forty goats. Mango was supposed to take it over, and instead spent his days walking the ridges alone, sleeping past sunrise, letting the animals scatter. His father got tired of it. He chose Saira to get married with mango. His own brother's daughter. Mango's first cousin. She had turned eighteen a month before.
