Tommy Oliver became the White Ranger in 1994, during the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He was introduced as the White Ranger in the two-part episode "White Light," which aired in the fall of that year. In the storyline, Tommy's Green Ranger powers were fading, so Zordon created a new set of powers. The new White Ranger powers were created with goodness and were indestructible by evil forces, and Tommy was chosen as the new team leader.
