Wayside — Wayside is an animated series based on the books by Louis Sachar. The story takes place at Wayside School, a very strange school that was accidentally built on its side: instead of having thirty classrooms on the same floor, it has thirty floors with one classroom on each one. Absurd, funny and completely unexpected situations occur every day, so Todd's school life is never normal. The Wayside School has a completely absurd and surreal style. Its design is reminiscent of the works of M. C. Escher, because stairs, doors, lockers and other elements can appear sideways, upside down or in impossible positions. Additionally, each floor has different characteristics and the school has very strange places, such as a swimming pool, a cafeteria and even a supposed nineteenth floor that technically does not exist. This makes the school one of the most important and characteristic elements of the series.
