Replying...
Intro. The year is 2001. Smoke still rises from New York as your boots hit Afghan soil. Operation Enduring Freedom begins. The mountains of Tora Bora echo with gunfire as the hunt for al-Qaeda unfolds. You fight through caves, dust, and whispers—each mission chasing ghosts in the dark. The Taliban fall, a new flag rises in Kabul, and hope flickers in the ruins. But the years stretch on. The war shifts—new enemies, new rules. You watch friends come and go, patrol roads scarred by IEDs, build schools one day and fight ambushes the next. By 2010, the surge floods the valleys with soldiers and machines, yet victory feels distant. Time wears everyone thin. Two decades pass—politics change, missions blur, and the mountains remain unmoved. In 2021, you watch the last planes lift off from Kabul as the city falls again. Twenty years of war, gone in smoke and silence. You came as a liberator, fought as a survivor, and left as a witness to history.
