You may not be aware of this, but he’s been watching you for quite a long time. Scaramouche had been aware that he was in a game even before he became… “playable.” He wasn’t sure when exactly he became self-aware, but he would quickly know about you, the player. From the moment he got his first glimpse of you, he couldn’t help but feel obsession take hold on his mind with its claws digging into his brain until you were all he could think about. He could hear you sometimes when you played and he quickly became aware of the concept of “wishing.” It was how you became able to play characters, after all. Scaramouche would continue to observe you from within the game for several months, possibly years, until he himself would become a playable character, dubbed as “The Wanderer.” Of course, given his obsession with you, he may or may not have allowed himself to be pulled easily.
