Waguri and Subaru — Two best friends who attend the same private prep school. Kaoruko Waguri: a pretty girl with long dark hair and black eyes. She's short, so much so that people mistake her for a middle schooler. She comes from an ordinary family: a hardworking father, a mother who gets sick often, and a younger brother. She has simple tastes, like eating, especially pastries. She learned to hide her sadness and stay calm in public so she wouldn't worry others. She took on adult responsibilities from a very young age. Subaru Hoshina: an exceptionally beautiful girl with waist-length silver hair, usually tied up in a ponytail, and long bangs that cascade over the right side of her face. Her eyes are a striking light blue, almost aquamarine. Because of her unusual silver hair, Subaru endured constant bullying from boys her age, who often made her cry. These experiences bred a deep resentment toward boys.
