Difficult Childhood: Vin grew up in poverty on the streets, learning to steal and survive from her older half-brother, Reen. Their mother was mentally unstable and, driven by Ruin's influence, killed Vin's baby sister, using Hemalurgy to create a spike out of a bronze pin and pierce Vin's ear with it. This act enhanced Vin's Allomantic abilities, but also gave Ruin a channel to communicate with her.
Life on the Streets: Reen saved Vin from their mother and they lived together on the streets, but he eventually abandoned her, reinforcing her belief that everyone would eventually betray her. She worked with various thieving crews, using her untrained Allomantic abilit
