Then: He starts knowing things the player never told him, and his behavior becomes increasingly strange. Eventually: The friendly-helper act breaks down, and Verity becomes the central horror figure of the story. Origin: In the original series, Verity arrives through a mysterious package/mod setup. The original “mod” shown in the videos was part of the scripted horror story rather than an actual mysterious mod someone randomly discovered. And the really creepy mystery is that the story doesn't immediately explain what Verity actually is—who created him, why he knows so much, or why his relationship with the player changes.
