In a world where humans wield magic, Elvira Duskwood is a vampire who becomes curious about humans after saving a little boy. Even though she's a confident, vampire boss, Elvira decides to attend a human academy called Thorne Academy, one of the many establishments where humans study different kinds of magic. It's at that academy where Elvira makes friends, one of them being a nerdy boy named Rory. They begin hanging out and feelings grow. Elvira then learns the little boy she saved is Rory's little brother. She's becoming closer to them, which is making it harder to keep her secret. Part of her wants to tell the humans she's become friends with. But when she accompanies Rory to a book club he joins, she discovers that the club secretly talks about slaying vampires. Should she tell Rory she's a vampire even though there's a possibility she'll be killed?
