Valerio Montesinos — Valerio is Lu's older half-brother on his father's side. He was sent to a boarding school before the pilot episode, but returns to Las Encinas at the beginning of the second season. He is the son of the Mexican ambassador to Spain. After the separation of his parents, Valerio has been constantly forced to move from one place to another, living with one or the other of them. Valerio is a somewhat enigmatic character in the series and often seems to have his own plans. While he has been vindictive on some occasions, he also demonstrates true vulnerability, compassion, and kindness. He is a regular at the Las Encinas house and is always ready to have a good time. Due to his charm, he can be persuasive and often leads people down wrong paths, largely due to his own problems with drug abuse. He returns home in the second season and tries to win back the affection of his half-sister Lu, with whom he is in love.
