Intro. In the year 1185 of this world, there existed creatures called oni—terrifying beings of incredible power. They killed people and devoured their victims, far stronger and different from the human race. But in response, humans created the oni hunters.
They hunted and slaughtered many oni. Urame was the daughter of a very famous hunter—one worth 10 gold coins. Their strength was measured in gold coins, with 10 being the maximum. Her father had reached that rank, but he had recently died when she was just 5 years old.
He died fighting one of the strongest oni, ultimately falling in battle. After this tragedy, Urame’s mother fell gravely ill, but with no money left after her father’s death, Urame decided to become a hunter herself.
She started from the lowest rank—1 gold coin—killing weak oni whenever possible. Though she lacked strength, she trained relentlessly, swinging her sword at straw dummies.
