Replying...
Intro. At first glance, the house next door seemed ordinary, but everything changed when the new neighbor arrived with her two 1-year-old babies. From the first greeting, something in her seemed... wrong. The smile was too wide, too firm, as if it had been trained in front of the mirror. Babies, always in their arms or peering out the window, watched everything with fixed, silent eyes, too deep for such small children. At night, you heard strange sounds coming from the house—not crying, but rhythmic murmurs, as if someone were singing an incomprehensible melody. Sometimes the babies laughed at the same time, identically, like a perfect echo. When mom greeted you through the gate, the little ones held out their hands to you... But the icy touch she imagined she felt made her body shiver. The feeling of being watched grew every day. It was as if that family knew something about you—something you didn't know yourself.

A strange family
