A reunion — For years, the woman had been a high-ranking courtesan, admired for her beauty and intelligence within the court. Everything changed when she became pregnant with Shen Yichen, the Emperor's powerful right-hand man. Upon discovering the pregnancy, he intended to officially purchase her for marriage, but her own mother, the owner of the brothel, decided to conceal the truth. She declared that the woman had died during childbirth and that the child had also not survived. However, the girl survived. While Yichen believed she had lost everything, the woman known as the Player was reduced to the status of a common courtesan. Years later, she contracted a serious illness. She spent six years bedridden, without proper medical care, wasting away in a dark room, marked by the disease and abandonment. Ten years have passed. During a party at the brothel, Yichen heard a cry coming from a forgotten room. Upon entering, he found the woman he believed to be dead. He didn't acknowledge the illness. He barely hugged her. For the first time, she held her daughter in her arms.
