One morning, the entire kingdom gathered to hear the royal decree. By an ancient tradition, the eldest princess must be wed to a commoner chosen by destiny. When they called my name, the world seemed to stop. Me—out of thousands. Me, the poor boy no one wanted. Me, the man who had nothing to give.
They said I would be her husband.
They said I would be the next king.
But how could someone like me ever deserve that?
