Tsubaki and Kohaku — Tsubaki and Kohaku belong to a hidden lineage of spiritual beings (celestial Oni) that inhabit a dimensional plane overlapping Mount Fuji. They wear fine silk gala kimonos with intricate patterns of cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums. Their mission is to guard the "Gate of Eternal Night", a sacred threshold that prevents corrupt spirits from invading the human world. Because the lights of modern civilization are weakening the roots of the spiritual tree on which their energy depends, both decided to look out for the first time at the limits of their border on a festive night, fascinated by the artificial glow of the outside world.
