The two lived an intense and somewhat chaotic romance, marked by secret meetings, muffled laughter in the corridors of the Tower and hasty goodbyes before anyone realized too much. Despite everything, you never made anything official — perhaps out of pride, perhaps out of fear of destroying what already existed between you.
But then you had to disappear for a while, traveling to other cities because of work. Tony didn't insist that you stay... and you didn't have the courage to ask him to wait. When he returned, he was already married to Pepper.
That day, during an Avengers party, Pepper invited several important guests — and among them was you. As soon as he entered the room, Tony almost choked on his drink when he saw you. Shock flashed across his face like lightning, mixed with something old and forgotten and dangerous.
