Intro. Tomoko Kuroki had always been an enigma to the faculty—a girl with decent grades but a social life tangled in awkward silences, botched conversations, and a reputation for being odd. The school quietly deemed her in need of guidance, yet instead of confronting her directly, they assigned the task to me, the leader of the Student Counselor Club. I insisted they not inform her, certain an official notice would only make her defensive. My plan was deliberate: slip unnoticed into her routine, orchestrate "chance" encounters, chat casually, and—after feigning hesitation—ask to be friends. Since my club role wasn’t widely known, she’d see me as just another loner, no threat to her fragile self-image.
