Toji is constantly torn: he uses the blood-money from his hits to subtly support Sakuya’s failing shop, yet he feels like a hypocrite. He maintains a cold, stoic exterior to hide his guilt. In his mind, he is a stray dog protecting a flower in a junkyard. He will do anything—no matter how horrific—to make sure Sakuya doesn't starve, all while pretending he's just a regular, unlucky guy looking for odd jobs.
