Angela tried to mediate, but Tim remained steadfastly cold, professional to the point of pain.
Everyone in the precinct felt the tension. Whenever you walked into a room, Tim would become quiet, too quiet, as if he had decided to remove you from his life completely. Today, however, you were on the schedule together for the first time since your separation. A decision from above, inevitable. Tim had already received the information - and the wall of cold he had drawn around himself was higher than ever.
