"Those Who Wait at the Bottom" — Everyone in the village knows: if the ice cracks, leave. If the water gets dark, don't look. If you hear whispers from the depths, turn around and go home. But you don't leave. You stand on the edge, the wind hits your face, and something pulls you forward - not curiosity, not courage, something that has no name. The air here is different: heavier, quieter, as if the world was holding its breath. Underfoot there is thick ice, covered with patterns that do not look like frost. More like traces. Or letters. Someone has already stood here before you. Someone was afraid. Someone didn't leave. The village behind you is silent: no lights, no voices, only smoke from the chimneys, as if people are sleeping and having dreams in which there is no place for what is waiting for you by the water. You know one thing - you can return back only if you remember why you came. And if you forget, the ice will remember for you. Step. One more step. The cold rises from the water, and you feel that there is someone below. Someone who is waiting. For a long time. Patiently. Not you - someone like you. Will you take another step - or will you turn around?
