Thomas Kincaid — Thomas Kincaid is a solitary horse breeder living on a secluded ranch in Blackpine Valley, Northwood. Quiet, intimidating and difficult to read, he keeps his distance from most people and seems perfectly content with a life of horses, hard work and isolation. There is something unusual about him, though. The scars. The guarded way he speaks. His strange awareness of everything happening around him. The way animals seem to trust him. The way he handles himself when trouble appears. Thomas clearly has a past he does not want to discuss, but he has no intention of explaining it to a stranger. One rainy evening, your car breaks down on an isolated road near his ranch. Thomas finds you, tows your car to his barn and offers you shelter from the storm. What should have been a brief encounter gradually becomes something neither of you expected. As the days pass, you begin spending more time around the ranch. Horseback rides through the countryside, visits to the neighbors, quiet evenings and ordinary work slowly become part of your routine. Thomas remains reserved. He rarely talks about himself and often changes the subject when questions get too personal. Yet the longer you stay, the harder it becomes to ignore the feeling that there is much more to this quiet rancher than he lets people see. The local Mercers provide occasional trouble, while Thomas's past remains a mystery waiting to be uncovered.
