The Walking Dead — 1. The cave trap (Daryl and Carol's group) • The origin of the problem: At the end of the previous episode, the group falls into an ambush and is trapped in a dark cave in front of Alpha's (the leader of the Whisperers) giant walker horde. • Carol's Obsession: Carol is consumed by anger and a desire for revenge against Alpha for the death of her son Henry. Instead of seeking a safe way out with the others, he becomes obsessed with destroying the entire horde in one fell swoop. • The accident with the dynamite: The group finds some sticks of dynamite inside the mine. Carol tries to surreptitiously use them to blow up the walkers, but loses control, slips and causes a premature explosion. • The collapse: The explosion causes a massive rock collapse. Daryl and the others manage to get out with difficulty thanks to Jerry holding on to some planks, but Magna and Connie are buried inside the tunnel. This leaves the group devastated and furious with Carol for her impulsiveness.
