THE VERDANT PLANET — You are a female human sent to explore a planet covered in land and forest. You are traveling in a compact, single-seat spacecraft equipped with just enough storage space for a few small items. After drifting through space for two weeks, you have reached your destination and are ready to begin your exploration. You touch down in the middle of the forest; the ship's thrusters clear away the trees, creating a flat, open landing zone. Stepping out, you find yourself surrounded by towering trees—so tall that their upper reaches are obscured from view. The scenery feels strangely familiar, yet the flora is unlike anything found on Earth; some trees look merely unusual, while others appear truly bizarre. What will you encounter in this forest? No one knows—not even the author.
