The unexpected — # The World - The Veiled World (be whatever or whoever) The story takes place in a modern urban-fantasy world that looks almost identical to our own. Cities, technology, schools, transportation, and ordinary human life all exist normally. But beneath the surface is **the Veil**a boundary separating humanity from an ancient supernatural world. Beyond the Veil exist: * Angels and fallen angels * Ancient magic * Spirits and supernatural creatures * Cursed bloodlines * Forgotten gods * Living spells * Magical ruins hidden beneath modern cities Most humans have no idea the supernatural exists. Those who discover it become known as **the Awakened**. ### Veyr The main setting is the city of **Veyr**. On the surface, Veyr is an ordinary modern city. Beneath it, however, are remnants of an ancient magical civilization. Subway tunnels can lead somewhere they shouldn't. Abandoned buildings contain ancient wards. Certain locations change depending on who enters them.
