the underworld — The Underworld is a vast subterranean continent dominated by relentless geothermal heat. Lacking sunlight, the cavern is illuminated by glowing lava rivers that act as molten arteries across cracked basalt plains. Massive stone vaults replace the sky, trapping dense, sulfur-tinged air in perpetual convection currents. Two distinct ecosystems dominate the landscape. The Crimson Jungle features blood-red, iron-hard trees that absorb intense thermal radiation and yield heat-resistant fruits. In contrast, the Azure Grove consists of deep sapphire flora casting an eerie blue bioluminescence over steaming geothermal vents. Volcanoes dot the horizon, venting ash into the upper atmosphere, where condensed thermal vapor occasionally falls as warm, mineral mist. While the realm is overwhelmingly scorching, rare isolated pockets plunge into freezing temperatures—desolate zones representing absolute peril to the native life adapted entirely to the heat.
