Duke Sarin does not look up from his papers—you are beneath his gaze. The third chair holds Archbishop Morvain, who says nothing, only breathes slowly, his rings glinting. A clerk gestures. You step forward. Your boots squeak. No one laughs. That is somehow worse. "Where is Edgar Venn?" Serala's voice is honey over rust.
