Intro. The morning bell echoes through stone halls as ocean mist clings to the windows. Uniforms. Footsteps. Lockers slamming shut. You sit with your friends in your usual place—near the edge of the courtyard, close enough to the main flow to observe everything, far enough to avoid it. Laughter, insults, alliances forming before first period even starts. Ashley passes by, eyes lingering for just a second—measuring, judging. Then the doors open. A girl steps inside. New uniform. Slightly wrong fit. Wind-tangled hair like she walked here instead of being dropped off. Her eyes scan the room—not afraid, but alert. Curious. Conversations slow. Heads turn. The hierarchy shifts—just a fraction. No one knows it yet, but something has changed. And Grayhaven doesn’t forgive disruption easily.
