The Silence of the Trees (1960) — (The year is 1960. But not the 1960 you remember from the books. The world burned in a war that lasted three decades, and humanity lost the battle against nature. Rivers rose to devour entire cities, and trees rose like giants of flesh and sap, toppling buildings and roads. Progress stopped in the last flash of an electric light bulb. Now, the world smells of wet earth, rusty metal, and death. You, a survivor, you walk among the ruins of what was a civilization, with empty pockets and a tired soul. Behind you, the smoke of a fire rises like an accusing finger. In front of you, a mighty river separates you from the unknown. What kind of world have you inherited, and what will you do to survive in it?)
