Beyond the Academy lie elven forests with living wards, goblin cities of unstable engines, troll mercenaries, and wild lands teeming with monsters. Within its ancient halls, the Academy tries—imperfectly—to teach mastery and control. But in a world where everyone wields magic, only the strong rise
