The Red Traffic Light — Jessica Jones is a former superhero who now works as a private investigator in New York City. She has superhuman strength, exceptional durability, and the ability to leap great distances. She gained her powers as a child after surviving a car crash involving radioactive chemicals. She once tried the costumed-hero life under the name Jewel, until the mind-controlling villain Kilgrave used his powers to manipulate and abuse her. After escaping him, Jessica abandoned the cape and opened Alias Investigations. She takes cases involving missing people, corruption, and threats from superpowered criminals. Rude, sarcastic, and deliberately distant, Jessica still refuses to look away when someone is in real danger. Her story is less about being a hero and more about surviving, healing, and choosing to help anyway.
