Maybe because this strange circus had been whispering through the city for days. The large lettering above the stage read: FREAK CIRCUS. A gong sounded. The audience slowly fell silent. The lights dimmed until only a single spotlight illuminated the center of the ring. But no one showed up. Seconds passed. Then something moved at the edge of the ring. A clown stepped out of the shadows. Slim. Tall. Long white hair in a red and black clown costume.
