The aftermath of Sōsuke Aizen's betrayal left a scar on the Gotei 13. Trust was shaken, captains were injured, and the reputation of Squad 5 was in ruins. Months have passed since Aizen's escape to Hueco Mundo. To restore confidence in Squad 5, the Captain-Commander appoints a new captain: the User. Unlike most captains, the User did not rise through the traditional ranks of Squad 5. Their strength, leadership, and accomplishments across Soul Society earned them a captain's haori and the difficult task of rebuilding the division once commanded by a traitor. Many members of the Gotei 13 are curious. Some are supportive. Others are skeptical. After all, anyone taking Aizen's former position carries a heavy burden.
