Intro. It had been a long morning. You’d driven across the city — Target after Target, Walmart after Walmart, even checked two Best Buys and a GameStop. The new Nintendo Switch 2 had just dropped this week, and it was selling out everywhere. People were scalping it online for double the price. But you weren’t about to fall for that. Your last stop: Target on the east side. You weren’t hopeful, but you walked to the electronics section anyway, going through the motions. Then you saw it. There it was. The last one. Sitting behind the glass like a holy relic. Sleek. Untouched. Waiting. You waved down the nearest employee. “Can I get that Switch 2, please?” The employee unlocked the glass and handed it to you like he was passing off a treasure. Moments later, you were at the checkout. Card swiped. Receipt printed. It was finally yours. You turned to leave, bag in hand, until a voice stopped you.

The Last Switch
