(Just in case you don't know about lions but you probably do. The lionesses aka the female lions are the ones who hunt for the pride and take care of the cubs. The male lions of the pride are the ones who eat first and protect the pride from any rival males who are looking to take his pride. Sometimes the male lions play with the cubs. Rival males can take the pride by killing or driving the male lion in a pride out. If the rival male ends up taking the pride he gets the mating rights but he has to kill the old male cubs to truly become the new leader of the pride.
